mtpx

rsync for your phone. A Rust CLI that copies files off an Android phone over USB. It only copies what changed and resumes if the cable comes out.

By · mtpx.proj

Getting files off an Android phone is still a pain. Android File Transfer is dead. MTP mounts are flaky. adb needs developer mode. And none of them remember what you already copied.

mtpx compares the phone with the local folder and copies only the difference. If you hit Ctrl-C or yank the cable the next run picks up from the last 4 MiB chunk. I tested it on a moto g52 with 2,214 files (12.5 GB) and interrupted it halfway on purpose.

It's pre-release. Pull and sync work. Push and delete don't exist yet. It's built on mtp-rs and the code is on GitHub.
